Sant Joan is Ibiza’s least populated and most rural municipality, located in the north of the island. There are no big hotel complexes or clubs here — instead, rolling hills covered in pine forest, small villages, and some of the island’s calmest coves, such as Cala Xarraca and Portinatx.
Cala Benirràs is known worldwide for its Sunday sunset drum circles, a tradition dating back to the hippie era of the 1960s and 70s. In the village of Sant Carles, also part of this municipality, you’ll find the long-running Las Dalias hippy market.
